I'm using my iPhone only for data (phone service sucked and people simply couldn't understand me--I've transferred my SIM to an old Motorola V330 (?) so I can actually have voice conversations.)
I DO use my iPhone Wifi for email and GPS (I LOVE Endomondo when I walk). But the battery is gone in no time. It keeps on searching for "carrier" and I think that's what drains it.
Is there any way to disable "carrier?"

Hmmm. That could work overnight if I remembered to do it, but airplane mode gives me a basic brick. I use it for email and internet and tracking (I usually turn off location when I'm not tracking) so I'm looking for a more persistent fix.
Simon, can you think of anything else? Is there any modification or app that will stop it from looking?

"Airplane Mode" then turn on Wi-Fi.

Thanks to both of you! I'm not positive today, that that saved the battery much, but at least it's all working!
