I just did it and i can confirm that it works. haven't rean into any trouble yet. just make sure that you REBOOT your iphone! IT WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DONT REBOOT. *i didn't reboot my first time and it didn't work, try it again and it worked

Just go into cydia go to manage, sources, then add cydia.pushfix.info and download the MMS fix, even though it's for ios 4 it will still work with ios 5+. Way easier.
