Default imessage not working on 3gs 5.1.1
    Hello all,
I have a iphone 3gs jailbroken and unlocked with redsn0w_win_0.9.11b4 to 5.1.1, firmware 06.15.00, on tmobile. I would like to get my imessage and push notification working. I installed SAM through Cydia but when i go to "Revert Lockdown to Stock" it comes back with a "Stockification failure".
What is my next course of action to achieve success.
Thank you in advance for all replies.

Sorry, I'm not experienced with unlocking, since I have no iPhone. I'll ask a mod to come help. I'll be right back

Did you hacktivate it by chance? Hacktivating it will cause you to lose your notifications permanently.

No it's not fixed. That's the thread I used to get 5.1.1. I was hoping you can tell me if that was my problem... Is that how it was hacktivated?

It says nothing about hacktivating at all. That can just be done from Redsn0w itself. Hacktivating will NOT activate FaceTime, etc. For that I reccomend you just restore and see what happens.

No need to restore via iTunes to fix iMessages.

There are several threads about this and X H4CK3R X is correct and others who state that hactivation will prevent the iMessage app and push notifications from working properly.

See this link below: ( I used it successfully to get iMessage working on my 3Gs running 5.1 )

Fix iMessage/FaceTime & Push Notifications On Hacktivated iPhone 4/3GS

Some of the original zeppy post is listed below for reference:

Run redsnow 'Jailbreak' again and choose the 'Deactivate Option' for the 3G or 3Gs.

Next I hook up the phone to iTunes and insert any At&t SIM card to let iTunes activate the phone to the official carrier in this case At&t that itunes knows the phone is locked to.

This official 'carrier activation' through an authorized SIM saves battery life because the service daemon is not constantly running all of the time because the redsnow 'hactivation' causes the service daemon to run all the time but an official SIM card activation via itunes will not.

Then I remove the At&t SIM card and open up Cydia on the jailbroken phone and install latest version of ultrasnow (and ultrasnow fixer for 5.1 if on the 5.1 firmware) and phone then works on any GSM carrier like T-Mobile just fine.

Note: Deactivating via Redsnow will clear all of the Cellular Data MMS settings so you will have to redo the LEIMOBILE part above in the OP for MMS messaging etc.

This is the best answer I've seen so far to this problem I have as well. However, I used PwnageTool to jailbreak my iPhone 4 on 5.1.1. I don't think I hacktivated it (I originally activated it under AT&T), but after the jailbreak the first SIM I put in was not my AT&T one.

I know PwnageTool and redsn0w are based on the same code, but would I need to do the full restore and put in the AT&T sim first this time, or could I just use this redsn0w rejailbreak method?

Re-jailbreaking in my opinion isn't that great. I'd just do a complete restore and jailbreak from there.

Any reason why you think re-jailbreaking isn't that great?

Unfortunately I need to keep my baseband, which means I need to restore to a pre-jailbroken image. It sounds like I just need to deactivate and do this again, using the AT&T sim the first time, though. Correct?

Because re-jailbreaking overwrites everything making it take a lot of your disk space (memory) up. It also can cause conflicts with packages because Cydia could think it's installed twice and throw errors at you. Overall, it's just not good to do. And if you want to preserve your baseband, you just have to use Redsn0w's or Sn0wbreeze's baseband saver tool. You will need a custom IPSW for it though.
