Official T-Mobile 3G Speed Watch Thread
3G coming to T-Mobile iPhones has been confirmed, but I haven't seen a thread about it yet, so I figured I'd get one started in the event that the switch to receiving 3G/4G becomes widespread.
I currently live in the NYC area. So far, I still have Edge, but the odd thing now is that enabling 3G on the iPhone no longer causes me to lose service. Ever since a few months ago, enabling 3G on the iPhone for T-Mobile used to cut all signal.
Also, I wonder if using the T-Zones plan will even capture a 3G speed signal using that plan? Anyone know? Thoughts? Any 3G connections yet for anyone?
Mod edit;

added sightings of T-Mobile 3G coverage map that is interactive. If you are receiving 3G.4G speeds, please add to map.Last edited by blkcadi; 08-05-2012 at 03:33 PM.

South L.A. All the way to Valencia CA. thats almost 50 miles. I'll keep you posted
By the way a few weeks ago I was in a tmo store to pick up a 128k micro sim and the manager told the tmo 3G/4g was going to work on iPhones in June or july in L.A.All information contained in my post came to me in a dream. I don't even own an iphone.

3G speeds will work on/with T-Zones.
A few years ago, my friend bought a G1 to use on AT&T so that he didn't have to upgrade to a smartphone data plan. I popped my T-Mobile SIM ($5.00 T-Zones) into the G1 and he got 3G on the phone.
We also tested UMTS' simultaneous voice + data feature by buffering and playing YouTube while calling each other.

Ah, that would be nice! GRPS is the norm where I live, Edge is 50/50. I recently jumped ship to another carrier (more expensive, but have 3G). I would come back to t-mo if this happened in my area, but not gonna hold my breath for it happening anytime soon.

I was recently out of the country and used 3G in Germany. I forgot to turn it off when I got home and I still have service here in Minneapolis. Data works without any APN, but it is slower than if I turn off 3G and use the epc.tmobile.com APN. Data does not seem to work with an APN on 3G.

Let's see some screenshots as well if any of you manage to get any.
One of the maps app with your current location + 3G in the status bar would be great.

Nice idea of a thread. I'm interested since Verizon is planning to cut my unlimited data if I use my discounted upgrade, so when T-Mobile has 3G ready for the iPhone I'll be getting a factory unlocked to use with it. Keep everyone posted on your findings guys!

I think T-Mobile is a suitable category for this topic to be in.
