    Default Cydia update
    I have a 3GS with 3.1.3 running on tmobile
    Couple dumb questions

    It's never been explained to me what Cydia really is?
    Does it allow me to put apps on my phone without using iTunes? Free ones?
    Can I mess up the settings on my phone by updating it or using it?
    The Cydia icon has 6 on it. Does this mean there are 6 updates for it?
    Just would like a little info on how to use it?

    The only way you can get apps is thru itunes.

    No, the settings wont get messed.

    The little red number in thebcydia icon means there are updates. You can go ahead and do them.
