Default Need Help on iPhone 4 4.1

my friend bought a iphone 4 JB and unlocked. I cut his sim and it didnt work.

I looked and his FW was 2.10.04

it looks like whoever did his JB unlock upgraed the baseband too.

Is this reversable or able to work with Tmobile....

    Thanks

Unfortunately no you cannot downgrade the baseband once upgraded.

He could wait for a new unlock (not sure when that is), pay for a gevey turboSIM to unlock (it is a good temporary solution), or get an official unlock for $175 to unlock his phone forever. Check out the front news page about the IMEI unlock if he wants to think about that option.

I didn't know that unlocks were this expensive for the iPhone. I'm going to make certain that the baseband on my old 3GS doesn't get upgraded. $175 is almost as much as what the 3GS went for when it was first released....

Software unlocks are free, hardware-assisted are cheaper, but you have to understand what $175 does. It unlocks the phone and it becomes factory unlocked. Factory unlocked means it is permanently unlocked. Although there are skepticism on this, it is the method of unlocking that makes it so. People who need unlocks likely did not purchase the device at a discounted price for $199, so they purchase retail which means a new iPhone(locked) is about $500-$700 on release. A never locked/factory unlocked newly released is $800-$1000. Essentially having a locked purchased for $500 and adding the $175 takes you to $675 which brings you close to or equal to the amount that a retail factory unlocked costs.

So the price isn't bad. It could be a tad lower, but it is reasonable.

Thanks, iAnnie. When you look at it from that perspective the price makes sense.
