Exclamation Can't get MMS morking on iPhone 4 and 4.2.1

Ok, I cant figure out an mms solution for my iphone 4 on 4.2.1 for the life of me. the commcenter patch just messes up my service all the time, so i didnt wanna go that route after the 4.2.1 update. Before on 4.1 Id always get the pop up about the cellular data and Id just have to take out and reinsert my sim and it would work again, but it gets really annoying especially because I dont have the sim eject tool with me at all times, then it would have the random sim failure and no service or invalid sim....

Once I updated to 4.2.1, I tried the commcenter patch and right away my phone started the no service and sim failure and wouldnt catch service until i rebooted about 5 times and I tried a few carrier bundles and they didnt work so I got tired of trying and having to reboot 5 times each time i switched bundles so I just did a fresh restore and jailbreak..

This time I tried, just the TetherMe APN editor tweak but no matter what APN setting I use, I cant get MMS working.

I have an iphone 4 4.2.1 tmobile and no data plan, if anyone can help me out, Id really appreciate it

When i recently jailbroke my iphone 4 to 4.2.1 i decided to try the carrier bundles and the commcenter patch. This messes everything up. And was way to in depth and detailed for such an easy fix.

I've had and unlocked every iphone available.

What i do is instead of using the bundles and the commcenter patch i just download the "tmobile iOS MMS fix" from cydia. I get mine from sinfuliphone's repo. But im sure they're all the same.

Once that is installed just search around MMI for the mms settings and enter them into your phone. Once they are entered be sure to reboot your phone so that the settings stick.

That didnt help me any, still no MMS. I think things are gonna be different with 4.2.1

That fix from sinfuliphone doesn't give u a cellular data edit tab does it? It doesnt for me, and it didnt in 4.1 either. How do u fo and edit the APN ater that tweak? What does that tweak actually do besides input the MMS settings automatically? Does it patch anything? What would the difference be in using that fix and just using TetherMe APN tweak to manually input the settings?

Does anybody have MMS working on an iphone 4 on 4.2.1? Someone has to, if not im gonna have to downgrade back to 4.1...

Ok so the MMS is working on my iPhone 4 4.2.1
    1. first go to t-mobile and get a new sims, they are the same size as the old ones but the mechanism in the sims match the att micro.
    2. add Cydia.pushfix.info to cydia
    3. install "T-Mobile US MMS Fix for iOS4"
    4. after installing reboot
    5. make sure that the settings in the Cellular Data Network tab are correct ( if the tab is not there, got to general, network, take out your sims card and put it back, do that over and over untill the tab shows up)
    6. Reboot

for me the sims card was my problem all along.

You dont think I would have had problems before now, if it was the sim? Thatll be my last resort, I wanna make sure thats what it is. I just feel like I would have had problems prior to this update if it was the sim..

    Exclamation Got it working!!

Ok, Ive been messing with my iphone today and I got the MMS working on 4.2.1.

I installed Wortel's CommCenter Patch "Patching_CommCenter_iOS_4_0" and used the legacy package from "t-mobile_us_ios4.2_1.3.0.ipcc". google those and download them.

First tweak itunes with these instructions so itll be ready once we need to use it to update carrier bundles. If my instructions aren't clear enough, google it.
    Step 1: Quit iTunes
Step 2: Press Windows Key + R to open the run dialog. Enter in cmd then click OK
Step 3: Enter the following command into the Command Prompt window.

    "C: \Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe" /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1

    Now follow these steps.

(1)First install the commcenter patch, using SSH copy the file to /private/var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall and reboot your device twice. You may need to create cydia and autoinstall directories, I had to. Once you reboot twice, goto cydia and make sure the patch is installed via mangage/packages.

(2)Install TetherME APN Editing from Xsellize's repo so you can adjust the APN.
Then goto network tab and use the following..
    Cellular Data
    apn - wap.voicestream.com

    Visual Voicemail
    apn - wap.voicestream.com

    MMS
    apn - wap.voicestream.com
    username leave it blank
    password leave it blank
    mmsc - http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile/mms/wapenc
    mms proxy - 216.155.165.050
mms max message size - 614400
mms ua prof url - http://apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

(3)Open up itunes and hold shift and click check for updates, bottom right corner change it from ipsw's to ipcc's and go to the directory you saved the "t-mobile_us_ios4.2_1.3.0.ipcc.zip" to, make sure you unzipped/extracted it and select the legacy bundle and open it. Apply it, it seems nothing happened but it did update your iphone.

Shut down and restart your iphone, Dont reboot, shut it complately down. You may have to do it twice if you have no service once it boots up.

    Go here:
Patch CommCenter & T-Mobile US Enable Carrier Bundles

This works for me....it worked on 4.0.1, it worked on 4.1, and now it works on 4.2.1. Just follow the instructions exactly, and be sure to use the linked files.

I've got MMS working just fine with an iPhone 4. I can get it to work no problem even after doing a few restores between 4.1 and 4.2.1. I use an unactive AT&T sim to activate and then unlock with ultrasn0w. Once that's completed I insert my T-Mobile sim and add cydia.pushfix.info in Cydia then install the "Carrier Reset fix". I eject the sim and reinsert per the instructions. After that I edit my APN settings and reboot with MMS working. One time I did need to install the "T-Mobile US MMS Fix for iOS4" from pushfix's repo so you may want to try it if it's not working without it.

    Here are my APN settings.

    Cellular Data
    APN - epc.tmobile.com
    Username
    Password

    MMS
    APN - epc.tmobile.com
    Username
    Password
    MMSC - http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile/mms/wapenc
    MMS Proxy - 216.155.165.50:8080
MMS Max Message size - 1048576
MMS UA Prof URL - http://apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

I do not have a data plan on my account but I do have the Cellular Data and Data Roaming toggled on.

I can confirm this works. Worked on my iPhone 4 4.2.1.

Yep. MMS woudn't send, it'd get to the end and just give me a red exclamation. EDGE woudn't work, it'd just give me "You arent connected to the internet".

After I used the steps above, my problems have been resolved.
