Default iphone 3gs 4.1 jailbroken and unlocked to ipad bb6.15 cant connect to 3G dataplan

    hi everybody
recently i have been posting in this site too much.sorry for being a nuisance but i still have one priblem .

i had my iphone 3GS FW4.1 with bb 05.14.02 which i used redsn0w to unlock an installed ipad bb6.15 into it.
then i unlocked it with ultrasn0w and it is all working fine. detected a T-mobile sim and cud dial and recieve calls from it.
but being a 3GS it is not showing 3G in it. i mean it only shows E there.

i went to the settings and clicked the 3G on but still there is nothing i can see changing.
do others also have that kind of problem.
the sim is fine as i checked in another windows 7 phone where 3G is working fine.

do i have to alws stay in the E or is there a way out! do i need to change more settings in the phone !

you guys have been a great help for me in unlocking two of my iphones so i hope to get a solutions soon..
    thanks in advance
    regards
