iphone 4 "not eligible for requested build"
I am trying to JB/unlock an iphone 4 running 4.0.2 and baseband 01.59 etc and i made a custom IPSW of iOS 4.1 and went into DFU mode and tried to restore and itunes says could not be restored because iphone is not eligible for requested build. what do i do.

You need 4.1 SHSH to restore to 4.1

The jailbreak is tethered on 4.2.1 for iPhone 4 and it is a bit tricky to get there and preserve your baseband.

What about jb without restore? Is it too late to get shsh for iPhone 4.0.2?

Apple is only signing 4.2.1 now so that is the only SHSH you can save now.

I wouldn't say screwed, your phone is working fine on 4.0.2 right? There isnt much new in 4.2.1. Just stay put for now.

It's for a friend. She's on 4.0.2 AT&T but wants to switch to t mobile. I'll tell her to wait

You can jailbreak it and unlock it on 4.0.2. Just use limera1n to jailbreak then install ultrasn0w from cydia to unlock.
