Noob unlocked 3GS no service issue.

Hi I recently jailbroke my iPhone 3GS running 4.0 via jailbreak me.com via wifi on my device then unlocked via ultrasnow in cydia. I threw in my old tmobile sim that I had hanging around and it says no service. When I run ultrasnow at the end it says something about not being able to connect to a network or something. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you!

If you see no service , then it is unlocked. Like you said the old t-mobile sim card, probably the service on that card is cancelled.
Have you tried a sim card that has service on it?

No sir I have not. A friend of mine told me that I should atleast see a tmobile symbol with the card. Is that true? Also it when I select tmobile under settings-carrier it says it is no longer available

Also the tmobile sim was never activated. I have a simple mobile card coming in a couple days

If you have no service on the sim card, you are not going to see tmobile as a carrier. I have a fido card, no service on it, it also shows no service when I put it in.
Why don't you get a working sim , put it in and see if it has service.

I will try that as soon as my simple card arrives. thanks for giving me some hope here because this is my second iphone and the first one i traded my 120gb ps3 with games and acc for and it was back when the 3g with 3.1.3 couldnt be unlocked and i ended up selling it. this time i traded my 80 gb ps3 for this one. lol i always wanted an iphone but never been able to get one up and running. this time im getting very close! thanks again! ill post more when the card arrives! Yes. My web works 100% and has since I activated it. My mms is working swell now to! I'm happy so far with simple mobile but soon may be going with tmobile.

Well maybe u can prove me wrong then. I was told I'm better off with tmobile flexpay because u can roam and with simpl there is no roaming?

I'm not too knowledgeable about simple mobile. Tmo is great. They have no contract plans and you can use the cheaper 9.99 Internet. I've been with them a long time so I have 5.99 Internet. With their voice messages and web bundle,I believe their unlimited data cap is higher than simples. You can go to their site and check out their packages. I get no roaming charges.
