Iphone 3G with 3.0 FW

Hello all!

I'm currently running an iphone 3g with 3.0 FW on Tmobile and I've come to the conclusion I need to update my FW to either 3.1.2 or 4.0 because many apps I want to download require these FW's.

Question is can I upgrade to 3.1.2 or 4.0 and if so, how and which one is recommended...

If someone were to link instructions on how to upgrade to the recommended FW, it would be greatly appreciated!

I forgot to mention, I obviously need to jailbreak and unlock the phone after upgrading (so I can use with T-Mobile, of course) so if those instructions could be included as well, that would be awesome!

I was in your shoes about a week ago. Seems that 3g iPhones are currently best off running 3.1.3, that is until 4.1 is released which will supposedly fix a few issues. I put together an install guide here. Hope it helps.

Awesome man! Thanks for the tutorial. I'll try it out this weekend. Now this will work if I'm upgrading from FW 3.0?

I ask because in the guide you mention the following:

Remember, this procedure is specifically for people with:
*iPhone 3g
*IOS firmware 3.1.2/3.1.3 (with any baseband) OR IOS 4.0x downgrading to 3.1.3 (with any baseband)
*T-Mobile USA
*Windows 32/64bit
*iTunes 9.2
