oh, you mean a proxy. I suggest you look at P1nkSn0w Now Available! | LEI Mobile for a proxy made specifically for the iPhone. If you decide to comment in that post, don't forget to mention "NeonCoyote" and the admins should understand who sent you there.

You have to donate to ifailhard or wait until the site gets 100% of its donation goal

Well I suggest sidekickdataproxy.freetzi.com - THE FREE SOLUTION TO iPhone data on T-Mobile!
You may even be able to change the apn to internet2.voicestream.com at the bottom and it may still work. I might play with that a bit and let everyone know what I find out. I agree though. $1 an hour sucked. But $1 a day wasn't too bad compared to that.

Well the Sidekick plan still ends up to be $30+minutes which can be alot.

Web2go 9.99 a month. Really cheap if I must say so myself.

EDGE is not worth paying for, dude...

Then get AT&T or complain to Apple that their iPhones cant use T-Mo 3G.
Any service provided is worth some sort of payment, even if its not the best. A rusty old car is still worth a few bucks if it runs decently; it shouldnt be free just cuz its slower or uglier than a new car.

Any app with preloaded maps will work fine without data, like ^ said. Google Maps will pull your location up but if you search, it wont pull up the directions without data or wifi. So TomTom or Navigon or whatever GPS app will still work.

So will I be able to get directions if I download Tom Tom or Navigon without data on those? thanks!

I'm pretty sure Navigon doesn't require a data plan. When I have "no service" I can still pull up maps as they are preloaded. When I have full reception, sometimes my GPS is having difficulty picking up and will tell me no GPS reception is available; I'm assuming this means the GPS doesn't require data if it can't pick up signal even when I have full bars (only in my apartment does this happen :P).
If I were you, I'd download a free GPS app in the app store to test it out first. I have a data plan so...I never really had to think twice. I'm pretty sure it will be fine, but I don't wanna be responsible for you losing money haha, so test it out first!
