Edge doesnt work with my unlocked iphone 4

so my iphone is unlocked and jailbroke on 4.0.1
i am on tmobile
i bought the phone yesterday
and the edge internet worked fine all day
then this morning it stopped but i can still see the E next to the tmobile
ii tryed everything every network setting they told me
i even reset the network setting
nothing.
then a few hours in to the day i realize i could use the internet on edge
but then after bout 2 mins it stopped but i still see the E next to tmobile
any suggestion?
also anyone havee a tmobile iphone 4 ? and is your edge internet working?

Exactly same crap happening to me. I have iphone 4 as well. Called tmobile, they gave me apn's that i already had... Still no luck.

same here...but i found something out that FACETIME has something to do with

EDGE and MMS not working...

if you enable FACETIME...edge and mms will work but you will incur international txt charges..

but if you disable it...neither edge nor mms will work.

someone please find a fix!!!!!

same here. it cuts out, then comes back and then out. really bizarre.

I wonder if its because we cut our sim cards.. and maybe its having some sort of a bad connection issue? for example metal of the sim card, touching the metal sim tray.. i dont know i'm just throwing stuff out there. this issue is really annoying...

I got a temp fix... Maybe. Take out the sim card with the cell on... Put it back in. Wait till it finds t-mobile, then try it. Worked for me. My apn is: epc.tmobile.com. Face time is off...

right now its working for me.. i'll try your method (boostinfd) when/if it cuts out.

here is something else i did -- went to cydia, added sinfuliphonerepo dot com, downloaded and installed the T-Mobile iOS4 MMS fix, restarted the phone, then reset the network settings. now my mms fields are filled in, but my apn field above the mms settings is blank... and the edge still works! i think the fix that i downloaded puts the apn in some plist file and doesn't need it in the apn settings found in "CEllular data network".

so right now its working. if it cuts out again though, i'll let you guys know that my method doesn't work

I did that too bud... But i also added apn to mms as wap.voicestream.com.
Both edge and mms work for now... But i think if i reboot it'll stop...

ok popped out sim and put back in and waited for signal and it worked!!!

just FYI guys....keep FACETIME OFF!
tmobile will charge you...i got hit with 36 international txt charges when i had FACETIME ON! but edge and mms was working perfectly...

what are your mms settings (under Cellular Data network)?? I've been trying for the past 2 hours to get it to work but it wont. did you install anything from cydia? Thanks in advance

so you have to do the take out sim method again for edge to work

Hey guys
Same issue here. Every time I reboot my i4 I'm unable to use edge. Tmobile support told me to insert my sim into a tmobile phone and launch browser to reset the sim. Reset sim? Weird. Anyway it works. But I have to do that every time. Someone also said that I need to install tmobile carrier bundles but I can't find a way. Cidia has them from the BigBoss repo but I get an error when I try to install. Any ideas?

i can confirm that this is the case...if u use wifi and then turn it off, u have to take out sim to "reset" it...

anyone have idea why this would happen?

The darn thing keep's reseting every couple of hours... I lose Data pretty often which makes me lose my emails... Really Sucks. I'm thinking about selling it on ebay and just sticking with my 3G.

This is all very interesting, I have had NO such issues with my iPhone4 on T-Mobile in Southern California.

I have Facetime switched off. I did get 7 international text messages before I learned that I needed to keep Facetime off. I will call T-Mobile and see if they will credit me for the whopping $1.40!

I loaded this source in Cydia: http://beta.leimobile.com/repo and then installed the T-mobile 4.0 MMS Fix and have not problems with either Edge or MMS, all work great.

I have definitely rebooted my phone a few times and have also resprung many times. I have not had to ever remove my personally trimmed SIM card.

What a bummer for some of you! Nothing worse than all these problems. I really hope T-Mobile gets the iPhone so I don't have to jack with all this. I will be jailbroken with that said!

ok so my edge has been behaving for past day or so.. here is what i noticed and i'm not sure if it actually is correlated.

but when my "notifications" are on under settings -- edge works fine.
If i turn my notifications off, the edge stops working within an hour or so.

for those of you, whose edge isn't working, are your notifications off?
