Hi there, I am new here. I am trading in my iPhone 3G 4.0os for an iPhone 3Gs 3.12os. I was wondering if I back up my iPhone and then reset to factory settings do will the phone turn into a brick? Do I need to re-jailbreak and unlock it? I am trying to wipe my phone as if it was new so I can trade. Also, does anyone know if I can upgrade the 3.12os to 4.0os on the 3Gs? Thanks for the help.

You just plug on the USB cable and open iTunes. Then right click your phone and select restore, and select set up as new phone. This will install iOS 4.0.1 and all you have to do is re jailbreak and unlock. All the information you had will be wiped. But make sure you backup your phone first so you can transfer it to your 3GS
