If you hit that button you will delete your firmware, and if you're jailbroken you will make your phone stuck in that screen. You will not be able to go back to 3.1.2 anymore unless you had your SHSH blobs in cydia. Also, if you're on the new bootrom in your 3GS, your phone will not be unlocked until the new jailbreak comes out.

Now you have to go into DFU mode, connect to iTunes and restore to 4.0. Then jailbreak with redsnow b5-5.

    Default I i it too.
    Hey all

I'm another wanna be.I have a 2g with 3.1.3 jailbroke and did the erase all content and settings button to try and do a restore back to factory settings but I am just stuck on the apple logo. No dfu mode (tried everything I could think of)no itunes recognization, just the white apple logo and sometimes the spinning wheel that isnt spinning. Is it doomed forever and am I to be banished to the 18th century?

    Thanks to all.

you have to enter DFU mode and do a restore. If it is stuck on the apple logo and you have tried absolutely everything to try and get it out and failed you will have to restore.

try the method of opening Tiny Umbrella. See if you phone has shsh blobs saved. you have to redirect the itunes to sauriks server>
So, open the file CWindows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (Windows) or /etc/hosts (Mac OS X) and add the following entry to the bottom of the file.

    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

download your custom firmware. best method is using Pwnage tool via mac computer. create the 3.1.2 firmware ... if you knwo someone who has mac create the custom fw and put on flashdrive and then use for your windows computer. should work as i had to do this on my ihpone now i am ruuning 3.1.2 with 05.13.04
