Doomed? T-Mobile pay as you go on iPhone 2g?

I'm a total noob at this. But I just bought a iPhone 2g the other night and went out and got a prepaid T-Mobile card with hops of being able to use the data. I don't care much for the texting or calling so I didn't want to get a monthly plan. I've been trying to browse this site (and many others) but I can't seem to get the data to work. It's unlocked and all that, Cydia and bootnueter. I've tried all the apn settings and all that with no luck. Safari can get to google and the T-zones site but if I try anything else it just brings me right to the T-Zones site. Facebook & Twitter act like they want to load but they never do and just time out. Anyone have any info on what I can try next? It's a 16gb on 3.1.2 if that makes any difference, like I said I'm a total noob. Thanks for any help.

Are your network settings correct? I'm not completely sure, but I think there may be something u have to download from cydia depending on ur plan from Tmobile

I don't think you can get data on prepaid with T-Mobile USA. In fact I don't think prepaid data is [officially] available in the United States (yes we're behind).

Yeah I was thinking it was due to it being prepaid. It's weird though cause I have the T-Zones on there it loads the T-Zones site up. I tried the Cydia thing from the stickied thread too. I tried the prepaid option with no luck and I tried the postpaid with T-Zones option and that one got me able to access T-Zones and stuff.

I was reading about that but I didn't wanna pay the 10 bucks if it wasn't gonna work and I couldn't find a free version to try out.

Looks like the one for $1.99 should work just as good. I wouldn't mind trying this either but I'd like to try it first.
