Default At wits end. Please help.

Having trouble with this and didnt find an answer in search. Im sure its been said before, I just cant find it. I found one but it never had a solution.

JB and unlocked wifes 2G on 3.1.2 last week with no issues. Even got data and MMS working. Hit the "That Was EASY" button and thought I was a master at this. Boy was I wrong.

I bought another for myself. 2G with 3.1.2. JB and unlock seems to work but when I install my T-Mobile SIM it says "Different SIM detected, please connect to Itunes. Funny thing is, I slide for emergency and can make any calls I want. Just cant access phone.

Now, my problem is, when I connect to itunes it says SIM not supported and as long as that SIM is in phone, I cant get to a restore screen or anything else. Im just stuck.

Any ideas? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

So... take the SIM out and restore to 3.1.2.

Once restored, follow the instructions (to the T) in the carrier bundle thread:

T-Mobile USA Carrier Bundles: Bluetooth, Data/Internet, MMS, & Tethering (2G/3G/3GS)

EDIT: Don't forget to jailbreak with blackra1n.

Ill be thrilled to get that far. I am allowed 2 options at this point. Usse as a phone, dialing all my calls in emergency mode and thats it. Or remove SIM and use as an iPod Touch.

Remember, if it is unlocked, you do not need to unlock it again!

I guess, Im not explaining myself good enough.

With SIM installed, I cant do anything but make calls in emergency mode. This works immediately after a restore with no BR, Cydia, or bootnueter. Again, thats it. Cant even use it as a touch. When I connect it to Itunes it says "This SIM card does not appear to be supported"

When I remove SIM card and connect to Itunes it reads it then says "Insert a valid SIM card with no PIN lock to activate. It will not let me do anything else.

I have an old ATT SIM that I can use and it will go into Itunes and let me restore. I can then use it as an ipod then and install BR, Cydia, BN and the like, but as soon as I switch SIM cards it goes back to above.

Sorry if this is confusing and thanks agaun for the help. At this poing, Data and MMS are the least of my worries. I just want a usable phone. Ill worry about the other stuff later.

Oh, and if I was explaining myself good enough then I guess im gonna need someone to spell it out for me.

    FML.

That's because you're doing it all wrong!

After a fresh restore, you're supposed to use Blackra1n.

The reason you are having these iTunes issues is because T-Mobile is not an official carrier! And yes, with the T-Mobile SIM installed, you cannot even use it as an iPod Touch. The phone will be locked down and only be available for emergency calls.

    Follow this guide:

    Jailbreak Unlock iPhone 2G 3.1.2 Firmware with blackra1n RC3

Once you've finished with activating and unlocking, follow the instructions for Bluetooth, data/Internet, MMS, and tethering in the carrier bundle thread (stickied at the top).

Post using the "Asking for Help Format" if you have an issues.

EDIT: Try putting the phone in DFU mode and then restore.

    ok ssh to /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records
in this folder there should be a file with a 20 digit file name.
probably starting with (8901****************.plst) this is the serial number of the sim you used to activate the iphone.if you open the file and edit the line that says
    ("IntegratedCircuitCardIdentity" = "8901***************")
with the sim serial number of your tmo sim that you plan to use,it should word perfectly even push.my old tmo sim only had 17 digits but the newer tmo sims have 20 digits, all the sims Ive looked at from att and tmo start with 8901.i hope you understand how easy this is let me know if you have any questions.
