Grey Pixel on my 2nd Iphone 2g
Ok so i bought my first 2g off ebay with warranty and really good condition... after a few months of use it began developping gray pixels on the bottom of the screen... took it to the genious bar with a friends at&t 3g iphone sim card after i restored it with the activation screen on and they switched it right away no questions asked.
The phone they gave me supposably a refurb i would guess... itI never activated it... straight up jailbroke and been using wh tmobile... it so happens that this phone now has the gray line on the top of my phone's screen this time...
I think it still have a few days in warranty... can i use my friend's 3g sim card to activate my 2g or is that going to give him problems????
any help or advice greatly appreciated

How did you manage to get a 2G with a warranty? Surprised they did not just hand you a 3G either.
Whenever I had a dead pixel popup, I would just apply pressure and play with it. They have never came back, but I obviously do not recommend anybody doing this.

There's an app on Cydia (I forgot the name) that fixes dead pixels. It has a little box with randomized colors flashing several times per second - which is supposed to help.

Activation has nothing to do with warranty.
If you have your previous exhange papers, bring those with you

01-21-2010, 08:39 AM #5Well the 2g that i bought came with a 2 year warranty it was purchased January 2008 which means it extends until January 2010.How did you manage to get a 2G with a warranty? Surprised they did not just hand you a 3G either.
Well when i try to look at my warranty on the apple website it does not allow me to do it unless the phone has been activated, that's what i meant.Activation has nothing to do with warranty.
If you have your previous exhange papers, bring those with you
But good advice I looked in the paperwork from the last exchange and it said the date of my warranty of January 25 2008 so I must have until the 24th to get this done... I made an appointment at the genious bar already to check it out. I'll keep everyone posted.
