Help - Want to get iPhone + TMO EDGE

Hey guys, im new to MMi and ive read around the forum about the EDGE with TMO.

I have a couple questions.

So is the Sidekick plan not working anymore?

And what is the cheapest way i can get a plan with unlimited texting with TMO EDGE?

As far as i've researched the sidekick plans never worked on the iphone as the APN setting wasn't compatible. You can subscribe to any of the web2go plans that start at 9.99 a month and goes up to 19.99 for unlimited. You then have to purchase texts separately. Unlimited text is $14.99 a month i believe.

Thanks for your reply, this helps out a lot. All i need is to unlock and jailbreak an iPhone, and get a TMO SIM? Then do all of this online?

You have to go into a store to get a SIM card so you may as well just let the sales rep configure your account while you wait and avoid the online stuff.

Alright thanks, another question, all of this can be prepaid right? Because im still signed with AT&T i just want to test how TMO is around my area.

Poseidon, just to update you on the plans - T-mobile now offers unlimited data for $10 and unlimited text for $10 with the even more plans.

Back to the question, be careful not to take your iPhone to the T-mobile store. They will NOT give you the $10 data plan. They'll try to force you into the smartphone plan ($30). Just go and ask for a SIM card. You should get that for free. We'll help you configure it here.

The plan you get depends on you. I'd get the Even More Plus plans, which don't have a contract (with the contract ones you get a discounted phone every 2 years...worthless w/iphone). Choose how many minutes you need and add the $10 text plan if you need unlimited text. Once you do that, add the $10 unlimited web for other phones.

You can call T-mobile from a phone which is not your iPhone, and don't mention you have one. Otherwise they'll try to force you into the $30 smartphone data plan. You can also go to a T-mobile store and add the plans. Go to the tmobile website to see what plans you like.
