T-Mobile Edge works w/out having it on the plan...

Yesterday, I told my mom that if she takes away texting, I must get internet on my iPhone 3G. She said that's alright and I'll get it today. So I put internet2.voicestream.com in the Cellular Data APN box last night and Edge started to work. I know I wasn't on Wifi because that was disabled and I went to modmyi and my school's website. They loaded at an acceptable speed. I went to school today and tried it on a friends iPhone 3G (with T-Mobile of course) an it also worked. We both for sure don't have internet on our plan. Has this happened to anyone else? Try it and see if you don't have edge of your iPhone.

i just tried appling that to my phone also and it work perfect but i dont know if they are goin to charge me for using the edge network do you know anything about that

I just confirmed this with another friend of mine. I asked her to put in internet2.voicestream.com and it worked! Wifi is messed up on her 2G so she was extremely happy. I don't know why this is occurring but I think we won't get charged.

it will work, but if you dont have a data plan on your account you get charged for the data you use on the phone. i would be careful with that and make sure u are not getting charged for the data u are using

I could be wrong. But I think T-Mobile sometimes give the service as a enticement for the first month or until they remove the service which ever comes first.

I think you are right. I got free internet with my prepaid account using internet2.voicestream.com. The funny thing is when I chated with t-mobile via internet trying to turn off web guard (nudity sites restricted ), he/she mention the word sidekick. We'll see how long it last.
