A simple question about iPhone and T-Mobile Internet

I have an iPhone 3G 16GB on 3.0 on T-Mobile. Currently I don't have a data plan for internet. What would be the cheapest plan to get? I don't have my phone bill, my sister does. She called tmobile and they said its $20 for the data plan.

I read somewhere in the forum that you can get a "Other" plan for $10 for the iPhone?

They told you to get the $20 plan because you told them you had an iPhone. This would make sense if you were able to get 3G, but there's no point in paying for that if you're only getting EDGE. When you call, don't use your iPhone - they detect it. Call from another phone and ask for the $10 data plan for "other phones." Once its added, use internet2.voicestream.com as your APN.

Data costs are not corralated to what data network you can access it's how much data you're going to potentially use.

Just change it online from my.t-mobile.com

Settings - general - reset - reset network settings - reboot phone - cellular data (network settings) - APN= internet2.voicestream.com, user&pass=(blank), Data Roaming=ON, 3G=OFF

I called from my land line and somehow the rep knew I had an iPhone? Maybe because I called a few months back with my iPhone and it's still on their records?

But anyway he gave me 1 month of unlimited data for free to try it out and if I like it.

They notate the account, and they can see when iPhone's are on their network.

I tried to do it. I went to vpn turn on. it gave me l2tp, pptp and ipsec in all give me Description, server acct. pds. est. I try in all and no luck.

you dont need to set any setting under VPN... perhaps a reset of your phone and then re read the posts on how to setup.
