T-Mobile Trick ME!
First, I would like to say I love this website and Forums. I don't know how I found it, but I think it found me today. But I have a blackberry curve 8320 that was on the old plan where I could get on the web2go and have the uppercase EDGE but since I switched over to the new rate plans I can't get on anymore. I called T-Mobile and they told me that I would have to get the Blackberry Data plan for I can use the internet again. But I was telling them that everything bad happen when I was moved on to the new plans. So I still don't have a way to get the internet but with Wifi. my edge is now lower case in the only way I can get on again is if I get the blackberry data plan. I wish they would have told me that from the jump or I would have just left my plan along. I don't think I should be paying 40.00 dollars a month for data, cause Gulfport, MS doesn't even have 3G down here yet. So I'm trying to see how I can switch to a plan that would let me get the internet back.

Well we don't really support blackberry's here so I'm not sure if you have an option. With the iPhone, you can get the data plan for $10 for "Other phones." But since you have an officially supported T-mo phone, they might not let you have it. For example, the G1 will not allow you to connect with the $10 service; they'll force you into getting the smartphone data plan.
It doesn't hurt to give it a try though. Try calling t-mobile from a non-smartphone and request the $10 web2go data service. I'm not sure if the same APN works for the BB, but we use internet2.voicestream.com. If you get an error when you try to go online saying "Upgrade required" then you're out of luck and have to pay for the BB plan. Unless you download a third-party internet browser like Opera.
These other forums might help.

I'm just going to keep calling them until something change. Because I was doing fun with the little web2go on my Blackberry but now since the new plans are out they are forcing people to get the Blackberry Data Plan. Which is crazy, but I'm looking in to getting me a iphone anyway so......

I used to have a blackberry, and since its one of their phones, they will try to FORCE you to get the blackberry plan... What i had to do was get friendly with one of the store reps, and tell her my friend has this exact phone, and he uses t-zones, why can't I? thats how i did it, but you can also do it the way us iPhone users do it,
Throw your sim into a crappy motorola or something with basic internet, call them from that phone, and ask for the web2go plan...
Good luck man
and i dunno if you know this, but crackberry.com is a much better source than modmyi lol,The only thing I ask in return for helping, is that you click the thanks button, Thanks!

Yea I know about Crackberry.com I use it all the time. But I thought about finding a old T-Mobile phone last night. I just have to find one first, plus I called T-Mobile today. The new plans they have I picked the wrong one. I should have picked the Evan More Plus where I could get text, voice, and web for 59.99 I think it says on the site. Thanks for the feedback!

They did the same thing to me when I got my first BB a few years ago. Was told that the BB plan covered anything and everything including text. Said kool just drop the text plan then. Well over 30 days later I get a bill for almost $700. I called to find out what is going on. "Well sir you have all these text messages". "DAH I use text msging ALOT". "Well sir thats not covered by the BB plan". "WHAT???!!!!! The guy that set me up for the BB plan said it was." "No sir he probably said that since you now have email you probably wont text as much." "Said no we even talked about how many text msgs I do and he said it would cover". She says "That was not put in your account and how do I know your telling the truth". WOW now I'm a liar cause I own a BB. So I ask "what can we do about the bill?" "Well sir since this bill went thru already i cant do anything about it. But it looks like you already have over 300 txt mgs for this bill cycle and I can back date the unlimited txt plan to cover".
So bottom line I got stuck with $700 phone bill.
I hate T-Mo. Cant get good service where I am even though it supposed to be 3-4 bar area. So I called a few days ago and the girl says that since I can pickup AT&T better that I should go ahead and switch since all 4 of my contracts was up. (AT&T is my roam or T-Mo here.) Wow talk about customer service. Hey sir why dont you just disconnect with us and go join with the competition.
I am really confused with this company. Think I will ask for the retention dept every time I call, maybe I will get somewhere.Last edited by robertguero; 12-04-2009 at 12:49 AM.

Dang that is so wrong you had to pay that 700 bill like that cause that man told you one thing and the customer service told you another thing. She shouldn't been trying to say you was lying about unlimited text message on your phone that is crazy. Hey, I was thinking about moving to At&t because if I do I will pay for that Blackberry Plan because where I'm at At&t have 3G network, T-Mobile still doesn't have it. So I just don't see myself paying for some data that is going to be slow just like when I'm on EDGE.
