T-Mobile Web Plan

I have an unlocked 3G. I have the 5 Favs family plan. If I go on the T-Mobile site and pick the Samsung Katalyst as my phone, pick the $10 web plan and add it to my service, will I be able to access the internet on my iPhone? Will I still be able to use MMS? What settings will I have to change to enable it to work correctly? I have read a few different points of view on this subject. Thanks for any help.

Yes you will, although you don't have to choose a phone - you can just buy a SIM card (arrange from lowest to highest price). When you select the $10 internet plan for other phones, change your APN in your iPhone to internet2.voicestream.com, leave all others blank. Turn 3G off and Data Roaming on. That should do it.

I am picking a phone for my account so the $10 data plan comes up as a choice for me to choose an additional service. I already have a sim card in my iPhone and have an active account, so I don't understand your post about buying a sim card. MMS works fine right now, would I still have to change to all of the settings you have in your post? The settings you have posted, are they the ones listed under MMS? I guess they must be because the setting under "Cellular Data" only has 3 lines including Username & Password. So are the lines under "Cellular Data" left blank? I am new at this, so thanks for the help.

If you pick the SIM card by itself, it's free (so you don't have to pay for the phone) and the data plan will still show up. The only reason why I'd pick a phone was if I was getting it for free (which requires a 2year contract). I don't see why you would need a 2year if the new plans don't require it, but that's your choice. If you already have a plan then you don't need a new phone, you can just add a service to your line.

The settings I posted for MMS are not under cellular data- that one should be internet2.voicestream with the user and pass blank. The MMS settings should be separately under the data settings. If it already works then leave them alone.

Do you still have the option to add services to your Faves plan? Weird.. Keep the MMS settings you have and you can enter EPC.TMOBILE.COM or INTENRET2.VOICESTREAM.COM (see whichever works).

I have the 24.99 service (unlimited web+400 Text msg) too, i tried to swith to a cheaper edge plan/service, but it wont allow me to click or check the price to compare, because I-phone is not found in the T-mobile website. But i still want to go for a cheaper deal since i think the edge network is not worth $20 per month!

Don't try to select or mention the iPhone because it's not an official T-mo phone, even though they support it. If you have a non-smartphone call them through that phone and tell them you want the $10 unlimited data plan for other phones (once again, don't tell them about the iPhone). If you want unlimited text you can also get that for $10. After you get the plan the APN should be internet2.voicestream.com
