Help the New Guy with Multiple Issues!!
whomever can help me....
I'm new to this modding of the iphone business.
I have the iphone 3G with firmware 3.0 - had it jailbroken by this guy...
Issue 1. Battery life is super short now
Issue 2. OS is super sluggish
Issue 3. Can't connect to iTunes anymore (sim is not supported...)
Question? Can i rejailbreak with to an updated version that supports MMS and tethering and fix the aforementioned issues.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Jailbreak and update to 3.1.2. Jailbreak using Blackra1n.

To use Blackra1n you will have to update to 3.1.2 officially, which will remove the JB. Then you use blackra1n to rejailbreak and blacksn0w to unlock.

There will be a noticeable slow down of the OS if you heavily mod your phone using themes and such that have widgets, lockscreen infos, vwallpapers, etc.
Using a light theme will help your performance a lot. I had the same issue with the 3G and was very happy that moving up to the 3GS solved all lag issues.

Not everyone has a spare AT&T sim lying around. So if you don't, try this. If iTunes doesn't allow you to manage your iPhone, then there's a problem with your unlock. I used to get the same exact error message when I bought my 3G off craigslist last year. Whoever did it for you did not properly unlock (or hacktivated) your phone. Try downloading ultrasn0w to unlock (cydia -> add source -> ultrasn0w.com -> search for ultrasn0w). Once you install this, reboot and try connecting to iTunes. It should do it.

Yes, but try removing and re-installing it.
If that doesn't work, you can download redsn0w and try re-jailbreaking (with a custom IPSW) your phone. This won't delete your data. After re-jailbreaking, install ultrasn0w again.
You can also get an unactivated AT&T sim card from eBay, but there's no reason to get one if these solutions work.If I helped you out, please use the Thanks button ------------------------->
