    is there a way to use tmobile's 3g network on the 3gs phone v3.1?
    can anyone tell me how to do it?

    Google is your friend. Use him more often.

    You cannot get 3G speeds if you have an iPhone on T-mobile. The frequencies are different. There is no hack.
