epc.tmobile.com stopped working?
EDIT: If you have Web2Go and you are getting the "subscription upgrade required" message while using the epc.tmobile.com APN, change your APN to internet2.voicestream.com. This should get your internet to work.
MMS does not work with the internet2.voicestream.com APN, so follow the instructions at this link - http://www.djmoya.com/tag/iphone-2g-mms-tmobile/ - to set a different APN for MMS. You will then have working MMS!
I have done this and both my internet and MMS are working fine; I've tested both multiple times now.Last edited by Eleni; 11-05-2009 at 09:46 PM. Reason: New info

I just got off the phone with them and they said they are having data outage all over the country. I am in MN and am getting the same message you did about data plan required. I am hoping they have this corrected today. The gal I spoke with said over 3 Million people without data coverage today.
This is bs its been out all day. They say they are working on it. Is anyone else having this issue???Last edited by teamrev; 11-05-2009 at 04:18 PM. Reason: new info

Internet2 has been working for me too, but can't use MMS with it. Has been like that before the outage.

Thank god I'm not the only one. I'm getting the same exact errors. It was all okay 30 minutes ago. I just started to receive the error at the time of this post. I'm in Philadelphia btw.
EDIT: Argh, I called up t-mobile because I still don't have service. The rep said it was because "the system checks and now I have to upgrade my data plan"; yeah okay.. So I guess we'll still have to wait?Last edited by angrydog; 11-05-2009 at 02:41 PM.

One rep says there's a data outage and another says the system checks on this stuff now? WTF? If the system really did check, then why is internet2 working?
I posted on their forums, let's see what they say over there.
Oh and I found this: http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Intern...ns/td-p/249529 A rep told this person that it is because they upgraded to the Even More Plus and it can take up to 48 hours for their service to reconnect. Um I don't think so considering I did not make any changes and am receiving the same error. The good news is that this user is actually using T-Mobile phones so it can't just be targeting outside phones, can it?Last edited by Eleni; 11-05-2009 at 07:00 PM.

Yes, I also mentioned to the rep that there was an outage two days ago. She was like; "I'm not sure about that, because I was off that day".
She checked my address and she said the only problems around my area was slow down on messaging. I also saw that thread you linked up.
I do not think T-mobile will do that 9target outside phones) because their using a GSM network. For instance, People traveling from outside countries n such use unlocked phones with a prepaid T-mobile sim card. I just think T-mobile is having some major network problems. They hired some bad electrical/computer engineers; they should hire me after I graduate. :P

Lucky you. It was working fine for me for over a month until today when I started getting that message. I've been using internet2 all day with no problems (except no MMS, which sucks). I just tried epc again and I'm getting the upgrade message again.
What data plan do you have?
It just reminds me of the whole blocking out any phone but Sidekicks from the hiptop server. It seems like they put some kind of limitation on epc or something. Do you have the Web2Go plan as well?Last edited by Eleni; 11-05-2009 at 08:34 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

iphone 2g mms tmobile DJMoya .com The Official DJ Moya Website
I just followed that so that the MMS server wouldn't have to be the same as the internet, and now I have my MMS up and running again while on internet2 for data. Anyone else who has to use internet2 and lost MMS because of it should try it out.MY PHONE TIMELINE:

Hi Everyone,
Unfortunately I am also having the same problem. Everything was working fine and then all of a sudden I got that dreaded data plan subscription message. I currently have the 19.95 web2go plan with unlimited text.
I wanted to check to see if it was a system problem and put the sim card in my old samsung phone with t-zones in which it worked fine.
Hopefully we can get on or else I will have to pay 34.95 a month.

Whew. I always think "they're on to me" when my service cuts out. I don't think they will target iPhone users specifically except maybe to push us towards the more expensive Smart Phone plan. I changed to internet2 and it's working again. I've had better luck with epc.tmobile.com though, so as soon as the outage is done I'm switching back. MMI does have setting for using MMS with internet2 and as of now, my MMS is still working, even though I changed the Data APN. I think my phone settings are changed so I can independently set the Data and MMS APN though. I'm just glad it's a temp thing. Thanks for the investigative reporting ya'll.
EDIT: yep, MMS is working (on 3G 3.0) but slow, almost 2 minutes for a photo to process.Last edited by thehumble1; 11-06-2009 at 08:55 AM. Reason: post MMS test

Eleni: I'm on the $19.95 unlimited text and web plan.
So internet2.voicestream.com works for me.
I followed the link you showed me and I have iSpazio repository added. Yet whenever i search for activatemms2g nothing shows up. I already tried this and I found that the sinful repository had something to enable the mms in iphone 2g. Now I can't find thee iSpazio mms on Cydia thus I cannot follow that guide.
EDIT: the humble can you post your MMS settings? Thanks in advance.

I actually used the Sinful iPhone repo to get ActivateMMS2g. I'm on my phone right now so I can't link it, but if you Google it it'll come up.
Right now I'm using epc.tmobile.com as my MMS APN (which oddly works fine when the 'net does not).
Oh and I meant to add that we have the same exact plan, so I'd assume what I did would work perfectly for you as well.MY PHONE TIMELINE:

Thanks Eleni!!! Everything is working fine and actually a lot faster than before(My MMS was sent pretty quickly)!
Also my MMS wasn't working due to bad settings. I finally got to send my brother a picture of my yankees' cap
He is a Phillies fan :P
---
So people who cannot get their data/mms working; here's what to do:
For DATA:
1] Change your Cellular Data APN to: internet2.voicestream.com
FOR MMS for (2G):
1] Add this source to the repo:2] Install "Enable MMS for 2G & 3.0 FW -OR- Enable MMS for 2G & 3.1.2 FW" via CydiaCode:http://www.sinfuliphonerepo.com
3] REBOOT
4] Go to Settings -> General -> Reset Network Settings
5] REBOOT
6] Enter the following for MMS Settings:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Username: BLANK
Password: BLANK
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS Max Message Size: 24000000
MMS UA Prof URL: http://wap.sonyericsson.com/UAprof/W800iR101.xml
7] You should be good to go with MMS now, anyone can chime in if I made a mistake.

Try this to set a different APN for your MMS and for your Data:
1] Go to on your iPhone:2] Tap Continue.Code:http://unlockit.co.nz
3] Tap "Custom APN"
4] In the Carrier dropdown menu choose the 1st 'US T-Mobile' option.
5] Then it will automatically put in 'internet2.voicestream.com'.
6] Now it 'Create Profile'.Last edited by angrydog; 12-27-2009 at 12:05 AM.
