Tmobile only offering $24.99 data plan? HELP!

I just tried calling tmobile to see what they offered as far as data plans. I keep reading about this edge plan for $9.99 and Tzones Web for $5.99. All I kept getting out of her was that I HAVE to get the $24.99 data plan. Is this true?
I want to get my internet situation handled before Blacksn0w comes out. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Well good luck getting the 5.99 T-Zones plan - it's been gone for a long time and at this point it's pretty much impossible to get.

But you can definitely get the $9.99 unlimited data Web2Go plan, or the $19.99 unlimited text+data. All you have to do is switch your SIM card to a dumb phone, such as a nokia or motorola. Then call T-Mobile. Don't call from your iPhone - they detect your IMEI and will not let you get any plans but the $24.99 or $34.99. Good luck.

Just go online and change your plan to the Talk + Text + Web ($20 ontop of a rate plan).

The 9.99 web and T-Zones are long gone now that Even More is in place.

You should be able to get ANY of the Even More Plus bundled plans. That means 500 Talk Text Data for 59.99.. not the $10 web.

That makes sense. Unless you tell them you have a different (dumbphone) phone, they will push you on the more expensive plans.

Did you CALL from a dumbphone? I've called Tmobile before and they've identified my iPhone without me telling them - they can see your IMEI. You HAVE to call from a dumbphone, otherwise they won't let you. I have a family plan and I was able to add web2go, and so have many others. Calling from your house won't work either, because they can see the IMEI connected to their tower.

I got T-Zones back in June. That's right, the $5.99/month plan, and believe me, the slow speed of T-Mobile's Edge network, is barely worth the price.

The secret? Simple: keep trying different customer reps! It took me 5 tries over 2 days to get a rep who would turn on T-Zones, but she did, and it only took her seconds and within minutes I had cellular internet.

If you still run into resistance, tell them you are going to switch to AT&T, that you are sick of trying to get the iphone to work on T-Mobile and that AT&T's 3G internet blows T-Mobile out of the water. Ask to speak to a manager. Tell them you are on the other line with AT&T right now! They will try to sell you a droid or whatever the heck iphone clone they have. Tell them you aren't interested, you love your iphone, and you will go to AT&T. They will do it, t-mobile is hurting for customers right now, they do not want to lose you.

Edge is slow though, very slow most of the time.

Yes, but what I meant was getting it right off the bat as a new customer.

Also, if you have the 5.99 plan, its actually cheaper to use the web2go $19.99 when you want unlimited text messages (avoid paying the $14.99 fee).

Why are you using the epc.tmobile.com, did you get the 5.99 plan? If you didn't, you should be using internet2.voicestream.com - leave password and user blank. Disable 3G
