    Default Edge Battery Drain?

I think edge has been draining my battery. Is that possible? Lately I have it 100% charged in the morning and in six hours it drops to 70% without even touching it. (I've got a used iPhone 3G on 3.0 ultrasn0w) I have no data plan, I just use wi-fi when I'm at home. I turn off everything in SB settings (bluetooth, location, ssh, wifi, and edge) but I still see the edge icon? Is this what's causing my battery drain? And how do I turn it off?

Is this amount of drainage normal?

I also have MMS working with the proper APN settings, could that be it?

If not I guess I'm going to restore it and re-jailbreak and see if that helps.

    Thanks.

Alright I got it figured out! I put my phone in airplane mode for a day to make sure it was some network issue. It was, my battery stayed at 100% on standby the whole day. I decided to try disabling MMS even though I used APN settings to get it working and not ActivateMMS (which I read had battery issues)I've had my phone on since 7:45 and as of now it is still at 100% even after checking an SMS during the day. I will have to decide what I would rather have now I guess, haha.
I'm going to try disabling it and then having a friend send one and see if re-enabling it will make the message show. If that works then I will just enable it on a specific day to see if I have received any messages. I will post results and if that works I will make a new thread.

thunderwolf, does this mean that in order to have ActivateMMS2g on my iphone without draining my battery that I need to put my phone in airplane mode constantly? How will I be able to receive/make calls then? That defeats the purpose of having a cellphone.

No! lol What I meant was that I put it in airplane mode for a day to diagnose the problem.

Anyways, the solution is to disable MMS and you will keep 100% battery. The choice is if you want MMS with battery drain or no MMS and a full battery.

And I tried having a friend send me an MMS while I had it disabled and re-enabling it and seeing if I received the message but I didn't, so that won't work.

thunderwolf, do you think that the 'AcitivateMMS2g' hack can fixed so that the battery isn't affected?

nope, the issue is not the program itself but even having MMS enabled on the iphone. it seems like the iphone and MMS do not mix together...

But there's got to be a way around this. I'm sure if the author of the hack digs deep enough that he'll come up with a fix.
