Certain apps (IM and chat) dont work

Ok, very strange issue here: I have an unlocked 3G and voice and data are both working fine with internet2 APN. However, any app that does IM or chat does not work at all. For example, Palringo and Ping, which I got from the App store, both cant connect to their servers. Is this a known issue, or is there any setting that needs to be changed for these to work?

Well ping users are reporting all sorts of problems.

So If I have an iphone on Tmobile, I cant use any chat or IM related app? Is this what everyone else is experiencing? Why is it that I can browse the net yet cant get Palringo or Ping to connect? Please help!!

No that's not the case.. I'd say it is the apps

Beejive works fine on my unlocked 3G but the push notifications don't seem to be working...when I have push email for my gmail email
