How To Get Data on the iPhone

Hello. I am a little confused of how to get data on the iphone. I have the iphone 3g running fw 3.0. I have the Pay By Day plan with T-Mobile. I know that the sidekick plan or t-zone hacks dont work anymore. I heard of the web2go feature, but I dont know how to add that to my account. I called t-mobile and they said I cant add web2go to a prepaid plan. So can i get a step by step process of what I need to do.

1) upgrade to some post paid plan.
2) call 611 to get web2go service added
3) setup your iphone settings.
