New Tmobile Flex Pay Question

If I were to open up a new tmobile flex pay plan with the unlimited data and text plan for $19.99/mo, and get a free phone with it. Would I be able to remove the SIM and resell the phone?

I'm having trouble figuring out why this plan looks too good to be true. Whats the catch?

As a T-Mo long time customer I know for a fact you can just take the sim out and resell the phone I've been doing it for years. I never re-up my contract just go to ebay or craigslist and buy one used. So you can sell your on ebay or craigslist too.

There is still a credit check and 2 year agreement. You would be able to sell the phone with no problems.
