Changed carrier to T-mobile, battery runs out DAILY?
I bought my original iPhone from USA in 2007 and have been using it in Finland on a Finnish carrier (jailbreaked+unlocked) ever since up until two weeks ago when I changed to an American carrier since I'm living here as of now. Ever since I physically changed the SIM card my battery has been running out in less than a day, and before that I have never had problems with it.
A friend of mine said it can be due to this card trying to find signal all the time etc but I don't really know how any of this works so any tips how to fix it would be appreciated!
It literally takes maybe 8 hours for the battery to go from full to none atm.

It sounds like you're friend might be talking about the 3G always searching for signal, which isn't compatible with T-Mobiles 3G spectrum.
Edit: Did you by chance set your phone up as new after jailbreaking? The Dev Team has mentioned that that might cause undue battery drain for some reason. Also the activateMMS2G seems to be the culprit with many for lower battery life than expected.
These are just things that I've picked up since being on here...
HTH
As you stated though, you are using an original iPhone which means 2G to me, then that would not be your problem since it doesnt search for 3G......Last edited by smassie; 08-28-2009 at 07:56 AM.

Nah I've had my phone jailbreaked&unlocked for ~2 years and only thing I did was change the SIM card inside the phone. Like you said, I have the 2G version, and I'm not using the MMS thing you mentioned.
Any other ideas?

I've also noticed that the phone seems fairly hot all the time from the back, so I assume something is definitely going on that is ruining the battery. Any ideas?

Have you tried turning off Push?
Or even a simple reboot?I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

Or try 'Reset Network settings'
He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

I just reset network settings now [and turned off push but I've never used any program that uses it], we'll see if that helps. I have done an actual reboot before so that can't be it. I also noticed that the phone seems fairly warm now all the time, as if I was watching a video or something that takes bunch of resources.
It looks like resetting network settings worked, cheers!Last edited by tin77i; 09-01-2009 at 01:04 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
