No AT&T Contract, No Warranty?
Ok heres the story...i recently switched from att to tmobile when i cancelled with att the guy told me id still have a warranty since it was from apple. but now about a month later i called apple and they said you must have a att contract to use the warranty.
whats the truth have any of you guys used your warranty without a contract? No signature spam or links... Thanks

I've exchanged my phone twice without even an AT&T sim card.
It depends on the genius you get I guess.I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

NO! AT&T contract needed - just make sure the phone is restored n' locked to AT&T
If they refuse, which I seriously doubt, request it in writing - the warrent provisions does NOT state that a AT&T contract is required. You then just call their central support and request repair + compensation for the trip.Do hope that helps

^Some apple store geniuses actually refuse and claim it needs to be activated with AT&T and you need your sim card with you.

You can enter your serial on apple.com and check your warranty

Went to Apple and says mine never was activated. Since I bought it NIB from a guy on Craigslist, I never activated through AT&T. Should I borrow a SIM and activate it or what?

If you can borrow someone's sim that would work

From my personal experience, and this is dealing with at&t not apple themselves for replacements...you have to have an at&t contract going for them to replace the phone. It maybe different with the apple store, but since the nearest one to me is about 150 miles away...I just choose to deal with the at&t store down the street

Hey gumby I had the same wifi issue with my 3g. My wifi was greyed out an wouldn't work. So I made sure my phone was under warranty an them took it to an apple store an they swiped it out for a new one. Fyi the phone does have to be restored to stock before u take it in an u do in fact need a att sim card. I myself used an att sim that wasn't even activated I jus told them my service was suspended. An they so no problem. They jus need to see that u have an att sim that's it.
