T-mobile Help

I have a friend that wants help unlocking his iphone 1G. I have knowlege about jailbreaking it, but not with changing carriers. What does he need to do to get his phone to work? He bought it from someone with a AT&T account. I think I will have to use redsnow and have the bootloaders, but is there anything he has to do with T-mobil to get the phone to work or just switch out sim cards. Thanks for the help.

Use ultrasn0w to unlock it for other carriers.
You'll have to add the repo in Cydia. Open Cydia, hit the Manage tab, Sources, edit, then add,
http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/ultrasn0w.com it is a zero in ultrasn0w not an "O"
EDIT: Dam, I'm having a bad day, yup you need to use the bootneuters.

I do not know I just watched a video on youtube and someone used Redsnow 0.7.1 and then loaded two bootloaders. That is what I downloaded. Will that not work. Is all I need to do after i jailbreak it just put in sim card and then it will work??

I have a 1st Gen Iphone and used Redsn0w and yes, use the bootloaders. It worked fine but I believe you have to have the SIM card you plan on using in the phone during the jailbreak. I could be wrong about that but I have a Tmobile pay as you go SIM in mine and that's what I did and it works fine. Yea, I use youtube for my jailbreaking education also. Nothin like a visual aid to really get the info to sink in!

Just to clarify he has a tmobil phone already put the tmobil card in the iphone and then do the jailbreak. Redsnow bootloaders and he will be good. He does not need to tell tmobil he has a new phone. Thanks for all of the help
