No EDGE?

I got my iPhone set up and working with T-Mobile's SideKick prepaid plan, but I'm not getting an EDGE connection. I do have a data connection though (GPRS, I believe) as indicated by a blue circle next to the carrier on the statusbar. I have it configured with hiptop.t-mobile.com for the APN and guest/guest for username/password. Did I do something wrong? How do I get EDGE?

Try internet2.voicestream.com or epc.tmobile.com

Try internet2.voicestream.com or epc.tmobile.com

Both of those give me "you are not subscribed to an Internet data service."

So I did some field testing, and I discovered that EDGE is indeed working, just not in my area. Where I live, for some reason, only has GPRS coverage
