    News Flash:

Apparently, if you have a 2G iPhone.. updating it to 3.1 will disable Push Notifications for people who are NOT AT&T customers.

I just got off the phone with Apple and AT&T. Apple Rep told me that once I had updated to 3.0 that that was it. That was the last time I'll have Push Notification for the 2G iPhone. Once I had updated to 3.1 lastnight (jailbroken) ..I noticed it's not working.. so I restored and tried again.. I decided to call today and that's when they told me. I then spoke to an AT&T rep, they told me that they're not unlocking any iPhones for any reasons. I told them that I had the original iPhone and that I was a customer before, but now wish to use my iPhone as an iTouch. Still, they said no.

I Despise AT&T. I guess I'll try to downgrade back to 3.0 and see if I get Push to work again.

Yup, Push Notification works on 3.0 but not 3.1 for T-Mo customers using 2G iPhone. Sucks... =[

All you have to do is lock the baseband again with bootnueter. Follow my directions then, acfter it says "iPhone waiting for activation" unlock it with bootneuter, again. When you get signal it will say iPhone is activated. And push notifications will work. The reason why it doesnt work when you update from 3.0 to 3.1 is because you already unlocked it, and with the 2G iPhone you will never lose your unlock even if you upgrade, if it was a iPhone coming from 2.2.1 locked to AT&T and you upgraded & unlocked to 3.1, im almost certain push notifications will work, theres nothing in firmware 3.1 blocking this.

Just a theory, but so was my first post.

I followed the directions and did everything with the AT&T sim card until the end to pop in my T-Mobile sim but I never got the "waiting for activation" or "Activated" pop up...that mean I don't have push notifications?

I am curious how? dev team says no matter what dont restore through itunes? Am I miss reading something?

iPhone 3G with T-Mobile - right now at 3.0 but about ready to upgrade to 3.1.

Also how do you get an unactivated ATT sim? My friend has a sim that was from his old iphone, the account its connected to is canceled, so would that sim work? or do I need one that has never been used?

Thanks in advance for the info!

Any AT&T sim card that doesn't have a active account would be considered a unactive sim

    Thanks for the reply!

I got my hands on my friends sim, so all ready for that...

but sorry to be slow, but "Restore Using iTunes" part of the walk through is what worries me.. Devteam says to not use iTunes to restore my phone... but I believe completely as shown above that you have it working.

So I should download an ipsw made with pawnagetool and fully jailbreak my phone, not check activate, then go to itunes and activate it with the ATT sim in itunes, then unhook, get ultrasn0w, then insert tmobile sim and all set?

Not using itunes to restore at all though?

Again sorry for asking but so cant lock my phone, hehe.

Restore using the shift update method so you can choose the 3.0 or 3.0.1 do NOT restore to 3.1 via iTunes it will update the baseband and you will not be able to unlock anymore

Need some help here guys... I've been googling for the past 24 hours, and I'm seeing mixed results as to if push will or will not work on jailbroken unlocked phones.

    Here's what I have:

Jailbroken Unlocked 2G iPhone on 3.0 Firmware through redsn0w. I'm actually on ATT service, but I did not activate through itunes, I unlocked my phone because I am not using an iphone data plan.

I'm trying to get push to work so I can use the new app PING.

Is there a way to fix this? I have tried the manual and PushFix from cydia, both did not work. After doing the push fix, I was able to connect to the PING app (before I wasn't even able to connect to the app). I can send messages through PING, but I am unable to receive messages from my friends. A lot of people are having this problem, I believe the common diagnosis is that it is the unlock that is killing the push feature, not the jailbreaking.

After doing much research, it seems that the problem is that Push Fix is using unique certs, so everyone has the same cert if they installed Push Fix. Is this true or not? The thing that confuses me is that some ppl are claiming that PushFix fixed all their problems.

And finally, is there a way I can get push to work for my phone? Is this method from page 1 going work for me? I'm already on ATT... any info will be appreciated, thanks.

Yeah, but you're also on WiFi, according to the screenshots.

Next you will need to do a restore on iTunes 8.2 with the AT&T sim card in it. However, when you do the restore you need to restore with the OFFICIAL FIRMWARE that is downloaded through iTunes. Failure to do this will result in NO PUSH NOTIFICATION.
I just wanted to clear this up before I spend the time trying to get this working. Can I restore with an official 3.01 using the shift method? I do not want to upgrade to 3.1 at this time and see no other way to accomplish this without using the option method.

after the iphone reboot you will see the "Notifications Option" in settings make sure you install AIM or BeejiveIM install for testing.
I tried this on my 16GB iPhone 2G...but no luck...it didn't work. I always saw Notifications in Settings(1ce I installed like IM+ that is)...before and after this process...and still no luck gettin push notifications 2 work with IM+ or nethin else I tried. Can sum1 please tell me for sure whether or not push notifications work on "hacktivated" iPhone 2G's or not.

has anyone tried this for an ATT service phone?

basically that would mean I would buy an unactivated att sim, then at the end, insert my activated ATT sim?

the reason why i have my phone unlocked is because i use a non iphone data plan, so i bypass the itune activation.

ANYONE??? i want to get this push working badly.

btw what is the logic behind the swapping of the sims and getting push working anyways?

Wouldn't see why not, I was trying this a couple times and it didn't work until I finally after I restored the phone with the AT&T unactive sim in, I opened iTunes and setup a new phone and then the "Waiting for activation" popped up

    iPhone 3G 3.0.1

    insert ATT sim
    restore iphone (i used 3.0.1)
    leave itunes open after restore
let itunes recognize iphone after restore
choose new phone not back up (you should now see "waiting for phone to activate, this make take some time.")
    open redsn0w 0.8 and browse for 3.0 not 3.0.1
let it jailbreak (itunes should close)
when jailbreak is done, open itunes again let it recognize the phone
you should get the "waiting..." message again, dismiss it
go to settings turn off 3G
open cydia and do the complete upgrade
    add the ultrasn0w source repo666.ultrasn0w.com
install ultrasn0w, turn off the iphone
take out the ATT sim and put in your desired sim (i chose TMobile)
turn it back on and you should get "iPhone is Activated"
test with a push app (i chose AIM)

Would this work with an unregistered AT&T SIM and 3.1.2?
