Sim Not Supported in iTunes for 3.0 Upgrade

i had to restore my phone after some problems with my first 3.0 upgrade. now when i try to upgrade (again), iTunes tells me my sim isn't supported.

is there any way around this or do i absolutely need an at&t sim to get the initial upgrade before i use redsn0w?

You have to use an ATT simcard or place the phone into DFU mode first.

Help -> Check for updates...this worked for me.

You can also try putting your phone on airplane mode, and then restarting it while plugging it in to iTunes.

This has worked for me also in the past. I have also had luck putting in airplane mode, and then sync in iTunes

airplane mode is a no go, as the phone is only allowing emergency calls. checking for updates didn't work either.

Hmm...what steps are you doing wrong? Did you install 3.0 before attepmting to jailbreak? I only got this screen until after I installed 3.0 successfully...the next step is to jailbreak the phone.

If its on the emergency call screen its not "hacktivated"....you have to use pwnage or redsnow to activate the phone when not using ATT.

Then there's probably something wrong with your firmware...try to restore the phone. I got this screen once before. I restarted my phone while leaving my cable plugged in. After restarting, iTunes asked me to upgrade and restore. Try this.

that's what i did and where it tells me my sim isn't supported. looks like i may have to grab a friend's at&t sim to get past this issue.

Ok, well you can also try to restore to iTunes 8.1 - There's tutorials on google. This has helped others sync their phones, but I don't know if it would fix your problem.

If you upgraded to 3.0, and you're getting that message, it's because you're tmobile sim is still inside. Here's what you do!

Close iTunes
Download RedSnow
Download Bootloaders
Run RedSnow > Unlock
Enjoy!
