I found a way around it. I got the message saying "This device is not compatible with your plan." I switched the APN to internet2.voicestream.com and it worked. I have the $19.99 unlimited data + text plan. There is no reason to overpay for the $35 plan. I also called Customer Service and they tried telling me that old joke. They just want your money. You will pay the same as a G1 user, granted that user will get 3G speeds, and you will get EDGE

Hey guys I was following this thread since my data was also not working over the weekend. After much troubleshooting I recently upgraded to 3.0. I change the APN settings back to epc.tmobile.com this morning and its working again!

I'm on an unlocked/JB 2G phone on Tmobile. Just upgraded to 3.0, now I cannot connect to server. I tried epc.tmobile.com and internet2.voicestream.com, but neither worked. Tried the iphoneconfigutility, but kept getting error message to download .net framework 3.5, despite the fact that I already downloaded that. Frustrating.

Hi, this plan includes unlimited text and unlimited data for $19.99/month. You can also choose the unlimited data for $9.99/month. It's called Web2Go. Call from your housephone and don't mention the iPhone (even though they already know you have one). You can have this additional service if you have any regular plans (I'm not sure about pre-paid). Just don't the $34.99 plan cuz its a waste of money - giving you the same speed.
To change the APN go to Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network > APN= internet2.voicestream.com (leave user&passw alone).
Let me know if you have any other questions.

The only reason why I have the 19.99 plan is because of the unlimited text. I used to have the 9.99 plan and it worked just fine as well. I think it's been mentioned before....no need for the caps lol

Here's the fine print:
*To provide the best network experience for all of our customers we may temporarily reduce data throughput for a small fraction of customers who use a disproportionate amount of bandwidth. Your data session, plan, or service may be suspended, terminated, or restricted for significant roaming or if you use your service in a way that interferes with our network or ability to provide quality service to other users. Some devices require specific data plans; if you do not have the right plan for your device, you may not be able to use data services. 3G coverage is available only in certain markets and on certain devices. Taxes, fees, and additional charges may apply. Domestic use only. See your data plan terms and T-Mobile's Terms and Conditions on T-Mobile.com.

are you guys just using regular phones, pda's, or what? I want to get this but all i see on my services is the 9.99 hotspot, 24.99 unlimited web. I have a blackberry now and i know that the services are specific to phones so i set my phone as my old MDA and thats what it came up with. Or should I use another phone?
