unlocked iphone for t-mobile: locked after updating itune
Hi,
I am new to iphone. I bought an iphone unlocked and jailbroken. I used it with my t-mobile sim card. I did not know that if I updated itune, it would erase everything. Now my phone is locked. Please help. What should I do? will I need an ATT sim card to reactivate it again? I don't have ATT sim card. My friend has ATT sim card. Can I borrow his sim card to reactivate my phone?
Thanks,
Patrick

need more details, is it a 2g or a 3g? sounds like you have a 3g. Since you updated you will need to wait until friday for the software unlock to come out. For now you are pretty much out of luck unless you have a 2g iphone, although it sounds like you have a 3g if your locked now.
Verizon iPhone 4 jailbroken
iOS 4.2.8

Even if it's a 2G the jailbreak isn't out yet... sit tight until tomorrow and everything will be released for you to re-jailbreak.

So i have the similar problem. Bought my phone unlocked/jailbroken, after a few months I updated to 2.2.1 firmware. Everything was working fine until i couldnt make any outgoing calls so i tried to restore the firmware. After that, iTunes just said it couldnt complete and my iPhone was stuck on the "connect to iTunes" screen. After hours of frustration, I idiotically updated the the factory firmware 3.0 Now, not only is my phone still stuck on the "connect to iTunes screen", when i actually do connect to iTunes, iTunes says "we're sorry, the phone the you connected may be damaged and cannot be activated for service." Is this what it typically says when its not unlocked/jailbroken? If so, im in the clear and just need to wait for the software unlock to come out right?!? I've never seen the process from beginning to end to Im in the dark. Pls help or advise in any way you can... THanks

Just upgraded my 2.2.1 2G to 3.0 with no issues whatsoever. I then used RedSn0w to unlock it and jailbreak it. Works like a charm.

^Put the phone in DFU mode and then run redsn0w to hacktivate it as long as your on 3.0 firmware.

This won't work if you have the bootloader of 06.02 will it?
