it would probably be a 2g phone since i was told the 3g phones wont work in 3g mode anyways on tmobile, is that correct? if i get a phone that is unlocked from apple, then i dont ever have to worry about it, is that right? it will always be unlocked and can accept the new updates without issues?

use quickpwn for windows if its a gen1, but you will always need to wait on updates until a new jailbreak/unlock method has been released

Now what exactly is jailbreaking? that is separate from unlocking i take it? then you jailbreak it and you can download apps from another party for free instead of just apple apps like the G1 uses android apps, is that correct? If i get a non locking 2g phone that cant be locked up, then i still want it jail breaked to get the other apps, is that correct?

By jailbreaking you will gain access to all the phones files and you will be able to use third party apps.

1- Get an iPhone 2G
2- CLICK HERE:
iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your 2.x.x 2G iPhone Using QuickPwn (Windows)
3- Follow instructions step-by-step (piece of cake)
4- Congrats, you have a Jailbroken/Unlocked iPhone.
JAILBREAK: This means that you are going to be able to install 3rd party apps and themes into your phone.
UNLOCK: This means that you will be able to use the phone with other carriers besides AT&T.
Good Luck
