iPhone 2g 2.2.1 youtube issues

I recently upgraded my iphone 2g to the 2.2.1 firmware, and everything was fine. I then got a new sim card (both have been t-mobile), and suddenly youtube stopped working. Is the 2.2.1 firmware known to cause problems with youtube, or is it just this sim?

(p.s., old sim is not an option.)
