The Definitive Edge Speed test post.
I read and see all different EDGE speed and I know that it must be because people are using different site and different apps to test their edge speed. So if you don't mind, can you test your EDGE speed using several website and the app store app and list them here so we can compare.
Here is my result using two website and the app store Speed Test(which is based on the speedtest.net website)
testmyiphone.com = 281 kbps
i.dslr.net = 127 kbps
speed test app = 56 kbps
IMHO, I believe the speed test app is the most accurate of all three BECAUSE if I turn wifi on, the result I get with speed test app on my iphone is the same as the one I get on my desktop computer(2880 kbps on brighthouse network cable modem).
Tmobile edge is excruciatingly slow. I mean it is still usable for maps, light web browsing, weather, etc. I am using epc.tmobile.com BTW and thank god I'm only paying $5.99 for the T-zones, which IMHO, is about the right price for such slow connection.
For those of you that have AT&T, can you test your edge speed?

I expected higher result with AT&T, grass is greener on the other side, but I guess it is not much faster.

Just did a speed test: 175kbps down / 49 up
I only get speeds this high here at my work facility.
Everywhere else, including my home, I get speeds anywhere from:
1 - 64kbps
PS.: I noticed in my home area that my EDGE speeds increases late night and early in the morning.

Those are some impressive number for t-mobile EDGE. I rarely get more than 60 kbps using the speed test app.

iPhone First Generation w/ 8GB, Jailbroken unlocked. 2.2.1. Format: down kbps / up kbps / ping ms
Using APN epc.tmobile.com. APN wap.voicestream.com does not work here at all so far.
Things have been hit or miss with T-Zones since I got it but it seems to have been improving lately. Lots of iPhone Edge tests below and a few Wifi tests with phone and PC to compare speeds.
--T-Mobile Edge T-Zones ( epc.tmobile.com )--
speedtest.net 3/20/09: 1 / 1 / 9800ms
speedtest.net 3/20/09: 80 / 8 / 5820ms
speedtest.net 3/21/09: 0 / 0 / 0ms
speedtest.net 3/23/09: 84 / 15 / 6200ms
speedtest.net 3/23/09: 57 / 6 / 4170ms
speedtest.net 4/1/09: 110 / 90 / 731ms

--WiFi Comparisons--
iPhone WiFi speedtest.net 3/20/09: 4200 / 534 / 62ms
Desktop PC speedtest.net 3/20/09: 4379 / 567 / 13ms
iPhone WiFi speedtest.net 4/1/09: 4000 / 510 / 64ms

Edge seems to vary quite a bit here in Chicago. With the speedtest app I get anywhere between 50 and 200 and sometimes it drops even lower. For example, if I'm browsing in Safari sometimes pages load nearly as quick as on wifi, then it screeches to a halt for a few seconds. Most of the time it's somewhere in between. I think it's very dependent on how busy the network is.

I wish I had you guy's speeds! Sometimes I wonder if the cellphone towers around here are hooked up to dialup or something haha. I have full signal so I don't know why it's always so darn slow.
Frustrating.

My brother just call me and he got 190k on T-mobile Edge in San Diego. Looks like it's faster on the west coast. It sucks here in Tampa, Florida.
