    Default What's up with T-Mobile + 3G?

I realize at this point that the iPhone 3G doesn't support the T-Mobile 3G network because the frequencies aren't the same or whatever. But is this a hardware issue? I realize that the Bluetooth chip has been successfully altered to do things that it wasn't intended to do, but could this happen with the 3G chip. Even if it could, would you have to have a 3G Total Internet plan with T-Mobile, or would it work with T-Zones/web2go?

In other words, is a "magentasn0w" ever even possible?

It's a hardware thing. The iPhone baseband/antenna is not equipped to transmit on one of the t-mobile 3G frequencies.

Just like the Bluetooth chip was only programmed to support handsfree/headsets?

    =]

Haha, just messing with you. What about the 3Gs over in Germany? T-Mobile is the main cell provider over there, and I would imagine they would use the same frequency...

hardware hacks are unable to be predicted. really. as of right now the dev team is the main source for REAL unlocks. the bluetooth project kinda came out of nowhere. it would be nice but there is no way the average person could shed light on this topic. really
