Just a few newbie questions about 2G iphone on T-mobiles network.
Just got a couple questions before I make the commitment to doing this... Currently have a T-mobile G1.. Ready to ditch it and go back to my Iphone this time without AT&T's pricing to go along with it.
My questions are:
1) If you live in a good coverage area for EDGE, how well does applications like Pandora Radio, Sticher, Youtube, etc work? I know the speeds are going to be greatly reduced, but is it still fast enough (if your in a good coverage area)to keep Pandora, Last.fm, etc running fairly smoothly without constant shuddering?
2) How well does Push mail work over EDGE and T-mobiles network?
3) Any problem areas involved with switching over to T-mobile? Certain services not functioning correctly, etc? Or does everything pretty much work fine over Edge, all be at just a slower speed?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I don't know what type of internet package you have with your G1 but my sidekick plan works very fast with Edge. Youtube takes about a minute to load a vid and it streams well. Email is great, the only flaw I have with using the iphone with t-mobile is that sometimes it'll say No Cellular Data or something of the sort, I just restart the internet app and its fine again. Overall I do recommend but only if the G1 plan is reasonable.

Everything should work fine. Maybe you have forgotten about the millions of 1st generation iphones that continue to use all those apps and push email... etc.. on AT&T's EDGE network.

No, I hadn't. But since the millions were on running on AT&T's EDGE network with AT&T settings, I was attempting to find out rather or not there are issues with T-mobiles Network settings.
Since they are manually entered, and some seem to go bad at random times. Just wanted to be safe, rather than sorry.

everything works great. I use dtunes to download songs over edge all the time and pandora whenever I have parties, pandora works flawlessly, no lag or waiting for songs to rebuffer, you can even use cydia well on it. Youtube is a little frustrating when u stream it, so what I would do is download MXTube and download the video to your iphone first rather than just trying to play it over the youtube app.
My only gripe is no visual voicemail..... haha-Ben
