How to Get Unlimited Internet + 400 Text ($25/mo)
OK, so I jumped off the iPhone train about 4 months ago, and just got back (8GB iPhone, brand new for $175). I didn't have T-Zones grandfathered, and got really pissed when T-Mobile put the cap on at 100mb max for stupid phones. So here's how I got unlimited web + 400 text...
1. Go to your my.tmobile.com page
2. Choose a new phone (up at the top). I chose the Samsung Blast. It gets offered a lot of plans (so pick it)
3. Once you choose your phone, go to
My Account -> My Services
4. Go down to the Internet/Messenger section and choose the Smartphone plan for $24.99/mo
5. Under your APN settings (Settings->General->Network->Cell Data Network), type internet2.voicestream.com, leave username and password blank.
6. Restart.
7. Voila!
I hope that works. I just loaded engadget over edge (and good lord in heaven, it was slow, but better than nothing). It's not too bad. I'm paying ~$50/mo for 600 minutes, unlimited web, and 400 texts...Last edited by xj.archaeologist; 12-14-2008 at 07:20 PM.

My Cellular Network Data is no longer there... only VPN and Wi-fi show up, anyone know why?

It's been happening to everyone lately. If you need to change your APN, go to unlockit.co.nz. Xj, what's your dl speed with your current settings/plan?

According to the Speedtest app, I'm pulling:
Download
Average: 72 kb/s
Max: 113 kb/s
Upload
Average: 38 kb/s
Max: 38 kb/s
Latency of 953ms
That's with "4" bars, which is unusally high right here in my aparment. I'll test it again when I'm in the open.

Wow, those are pretty low numbers to be spending $25 a month on. Have you tried different APN settings?

Not yet. I was actually about to. More upcoming...
OK. Using epc.tmobile.com, I got:
Download
Average: 145 kb/s
Max: 145 kb/s
Upload
Average: 27 kb/s
Max: 28 kb/s
Latency: 259ms
I don't know if this has to do with epc.tmobile.com decompressing some data or not...it does seem faster, though...

I signed up for this smart phone plan, but I can only connect using wap.voicestream.com
If I use epc.tmobile.com I get you need to upgrade your subscription / service plan. If I use internet2.voicestream.com it wont even connect at all.

That doesn't work for me (I'm on $24.95 smart phone plan). Every time I use epc.tmobile.com I get you're on the incorrect plan and goes to the t-mobile page. internet2.voicestream.com everything works (weather, maps, youtube, safari, etc)... only thing that doesn't work for me is AIM (keep getting reconnecting). It's also pretty fast, ranges from 200 - 250 down depending on location.
