Default Issues with new 2.2 Sim Cards

    hi,

just wanted to see if anyone have had issues with the new 2.2 sim cards that are out.

    sim card #1:
it worked great until you lost service..then it would search..then go to NO SERVICE and then after vibrating and beeping a few times, it would revert to NO SIM CARD.
solution: you have to take out the sim card, put it back into your old phone..turn it on and then take it out and put it back into your iphone. not a viable solution unless you want to carry an extra phone with you each time.

    sim card #2:
it worked fine even if you lost service it would pick it back up. i thought i had found the card finally. but alas....

if you install an app and there's an update for it, it will after a bit make the sim card not work. you'll get the dreaded NO SERVICE again. solution is the same as above for the other card. this is a bit more okay..just have to not update anything unless you're at home and have an extra phone around.

both cards were found on ebay.

has anyone found a reliable sim card?

i just wanted to update this...

    sim card #2 (see above):
I had thought i found a work-around..i would do the following:

    1. pop out the sim card..and turned it off.
    2. turn it on and it would show no sim card..install/update what i need.
    3. turn off and then pop in the sim card
    4. turn on and all is great.

i figured i could live with that..but unfortunately it was a short term solution as no i get the dreaded NO SERVICE in the top corner.

    Default same here!

I have been using the Gevey-3G chip for a while, but lately the chip stopped working. I don't know if this is because of the Gevey chip or not, but I have the NO SIM CARD message on the top corner. I did what you suggested about change the card to another phone and then putting it back and it worked. So for the last 10min I have had service. Another solution I found works sometimes is to just hard reset the iphone (keep pressing the home and sleep button until it resets). However, that didn't work this time so I had to switch phones.

I don't know for how much time this is going to work, but it's getting really annoying.

Now my question is, is this an issue with the SIM card, the Gevey-3G chip, both, or the iPhone??? What's going on? Anyone has an idea?
