Default What is the speed difference between EDGE(tmobile) and 3G(AT&T)?

I'm averaging 200 down and 70 up with EDGE (tmobile).

    What does 3G(AT&T) average?

before everyone jumped on the epc.tmobile.com bandwagon, i was averaging 800-950 down and 200 up...now it's just 300-450 down and 175 up...all my friends who have 3G is just a bit slower than mine on t-mobile...still a vast improvement over wap.voicestream.com

iPhone4Life! and apple tatoos are awesome

If I had a 3G iphone unlocked, would I be able to take advantage of the new Tmobile 3G network? I live in Chicago and I beleive that's one of the cities they recently tested 3g in...

I assume the answer is yes...

I believe that T-Mobile's 3G network uses a different frequency, so it cannot be used.

3G iphones can't be unlocked through software, you have to use simcard hacks. Also, it's impossible to use 3G on Tmobiles network. Because T-mobile uses frequency 1700mhz for downlink for 3G and the 3G iphone doesn't support 1700mhz.

Check the news..software unlock New Years Day! Although, I'm not getting a 3G for Tmobile since I have now confirmed they are on different frequencies....sad face.

Still love my 2G and getting used to my new G1...The G1 needs some improvments to the UI though...it's just not consistent if that makes sense.

    Anyway, thanks!
