Should I be concerned will discover I have an iphone
I just switched from a Blackberry to an unlocked iphone. I was going to switch from the blackberry 19.99 w/ unlimitted data to the 9.99 web2go plan with 100mg. I couldn't find this option on my plan so I called. When talking to the CSR, she saw my IMEI number a recognized the iphone. She said I could not use the 9.99 plan and would have to go to the 34.99 plan.
The whole purpose, in addition to using an iphone, was to save money on the monthly charge. I told her that I was going to stop using the iphone and go back to my blackberry and keep the 19.99 plan.
Should I be concerened that they will see my iphone electronically and automatically increase monthly charge?
Also does tmobile have a plan to automatically scan IMEI numbers to find out who is using their plans in ways they(tmobile) didn't intend?

You can avoid this... You can just switch your phone online at tmobile to a basic phone (razr) and then add the 9.99 (100mb limited) plan.

T-Mobile as a company really doesn't care if you are using a hacked iphone. I use T-Mobile and they know that I have an iphone. They just want their monthly phone bill.

I switched over w/o telling them and nothing happened. Then, when I had some problems with my Edge connection and called in, the lady almost immediately stated, "And you're using an iPhone, right?" I don't know how she knew, there must be some way they can tell but I hadn't said word one about the phone I was using. The only thing I had told her was that I was having problems with my Edge connection.
However, she then said that I would need to speak with one of their iPhone specialists who would help me get things configured correctly.
Long story short (I know, too late) not only do they not care, they seem to be happy that you're staying with them and not leaving for AT&T.

Yah as long as you stay with them they wont care what phone you use. and the IMEI they can look at and tell whatever phone you use. Kinda like a VIN number to your insurance company can tell what car it it. I think an iPhone specialist there is the guys who work there who have an iPhone and know what it takes to get it to work.

Yes, I agree also that T-Mobile is happy to have your business. When I was having trouble with voice mail. The T-Mobile Customer Service transferred me to the iphone help desk and they fixed me up right away.
