Since the 2.2 firmware came out, and the hidden baseband update I, among many other people, that use a Sim Proxy have pretty much only had an oversized ipod touch, as im sure you all know.
After stupidly updating to 2.2 on the day of its release and then jailbreaking it two days later I have only gotten the reading "no service" on the top of the phone.
I created this thread so people can either post solutions of how to downgrade the baseband or some other way to get the sim proxies working once again or to some way get the phone to work once again with a tmobile SIM!
It is not possible to downgrade the baseband at this point. Your solution is to buy a new SIM chip that's 2.2 compatible or possibly update the SIM card you have.
Just got iPhone 3G in the mail. Already unlocked and jailbroken. Purchased it on eBay. Said, "Insert your SIM and go". So far I've not gone.
With my T-Mobile SIM installed, the iPhone has said, 'No SIM', 'No Service', and has a small blue line all in the upper left-hand corner (not all at once, mind you).
Everything seems to work phone-wise, but it is not recognizing my SIM or something...
No text, no call, no contacts, no inbox text messages. All of which are saved to my SIM card.
SIM works and has worked perfectly in my Samsung E-105 telephone for four or five years.
Please tell me I didn't waste a whoooole lot of money.
Thanks a lot
Forgot to mention that when I turn the iPhone on, it says, 'No SIM card installed', once I put my T-Mobile SIM card in, the message goes away automatically without me clicking the'OK' button, but still nothing seems to work as far as making my phone communicable. So, in my mind, it knows the card is there. Right? What's that mean?
Thanks again
Update!
My iPhone now works to send/receive calls and texts.
I wound up putting my in SIM card and rebooting the iPhone. Duh!
However, my contacts and everything I have saved on my SIM card is not reading in the iPhone. Putting SIM in old phone, contacts and text message inbox is all there and I know for sure that it is saved to the card and not to the phone.
I've read online that the contacts have to be uploaded to the Internet and then downloaded to iPhone from there. Why won't it simply read from the SIM?
