T-Mobile told me I need the 34.99 Plan?
Ok, I had a first gen Iphone 5 months ago with the T-Zone hack that worked fine. I just got another Iphone a few days ago and I went online to add the 5.99 T-Zone and I noticed the option was not there. There are only new 9.99 and 19.99 plans that were not there 5 months back. I tried both plans with every apn under the sun and nothing worked.
So I called T-Mobile and I was told only the 34.99 smart phone plan with internet2.voicestream.com apn will work. They added it to my account and I entered the apn above and everything works now but 34.99??? There has to be a cheaper way to get the internet on my first gen iphone to work.
Please I need help!

All existing TZones subscribers are grandfathered. All new customers have to choose the other plans. There have been a few postings about individuals sweet-talking CSRs into giving them the back TZones. Curious why you let TZones go in the first place???

if your phone is stolen you dont lose your settings on my tmobile.com, curious how you lost your settings, unless you were just using another phone in the meantime

I went to the G1 so I had to change my plan.
I was thinking the same thing. The lady I talked to said that 5.99 was not showing up in her computer. She then went to her "Supervisor" who told her they don't offer it anymore. This happened this morning.Last edited by dipl0mat125; 11-23-2008 at 04:45 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

what you have to do (at least that's what i did) is change your phone on my tmobile to a simple phone like nokia 5310 or something like that, but not a smartphone. after that you will be able to choose the $5.99 plan.
i started a contract with a blackberry and i chose the $20 internet plan to get the rebate. after that i wanted the 5.99 but it wasnt there, so i changed my phone in my tmobile to a nokia and then i was able to do it... hopefully it'll work for you...
oh and you can just ask them on the online chat after changing your phone online... it's so much faster...Last edited by lolote; 11-25-2008 at 07:43 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

its pretty crappy that they caught on i had to go ahead and add the 35 bux service, however to be honest with you its a hell of a lot easier than trying to find a work around.

finding what work around? where's the hassle in adding tzones, and using epc.tmobile.com as the apn. it doesnt get easier then that. but it also isn't offered to you guys anymore lol.
totally sucks tho, i was hoping to add a 2nd iphone to my plan next month and do all the works for it. but now that there is no more tzones there is almost no point in using a iphone on tmobile. u might as well get the 3g cuz u aint saving money and that used to be the whole point.1.1.1>1.1.2>1.1.4>2.0>2.1>2.2>3.1>3.1.2 blackra1n'd

first off dont tell them you have an iphone or any smart phone. as "Lolote" said you need to tell them you are just interested in the basic plan for a basic phone. i made the mistake of buying a G1 and they shut my data plan down and sent me there upgrade text.i have been with t-mo for over 5 yrs. i called them and told them i didnt want their overpriced data plan and that i sold my G1. now back to my iphone as of 11/26 with the epc. apn and the t-zones which is still avail and im working fine as can be. "What was i thinking when i got rid of my iphone in the first place was good to me since it first came out!!!"
not true t-zones still exsist.Last edited by draggin; 11-28-2008 at 11:49 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

The problem with the G1 is you have to accept the terms of the phone sale which includes the data plan. They know you have the G1 and have to change it. Good thing you told them you sold it. But you also got lucky getting the 5.99 t-zones. I sold my friend my old 4Gb and told him to start calling tmobile quick and he was able to get it before it "disappeared" from their system. I've been with them for 7 years so my t-zones is grandfathered from 3.99 i'm wondering myself just how long they are going to let me keep it LOL

in my experience, you can convince a CSR at a cell provider to do just about anything (within reason).
i'm sure they can get you tzones again, if not, threaten to cancel your account

so, if you have tzones already, will they ask you to choose something else, or can you keep it for the $5.99? also, is there a way to check on the tmobile website how many MB you've used? i checked in my "current usage" but the tzones internet usage doesnt show up in there, only the minutes...

I am going to try the trick to allow me to get the cheaper $19.99 web plan, plus unlimited messaging.
I changed my phone to a Samsung Blast on My T-Mobile, but I actually have the Dash... My iPhone comes in the mail tomorrow, so I'm going to see how this works.
